I am vertical high in the air, motionless, above an ocean, my legs apart.

There are no clouds.

My hair and beard are so long that they wrap themselves around me as a robe. My skin is deep gold, my hair and beard white.

Directly below me is an island surrounded by other islands. There are five bridges from the island below me linking it to the five nearest other islands.

I look down and notice that each of my toenails is a different bright colour. I remember the colours well: purple, turquoise, magenta, tangerine orange, silver, emerald green, navy blue, lemon yellow, pillar box red and sky blue.

On each of the bridges I see traffic as points of light all moving towards the island below me. After a short time points of light of the same colour appear from the top of a mountain in the island directly below me. The stream of lights gets progressively thicker and rises up towards me. I am very high so this takes some time. Eventually as they get near the lights expand into doll-like forms each with eyes too large for their bodies.

They rise up and surround me getting dense as if a swarm. I see only eyes and more and more of them. The eyes become bright until I am in a cocoon of light. The cocoon expands away from me in all directions and I am in a large inchoate space. A black figure rises up from far below me. It is humanoid but without facial details. Its shape seems menacing: it has large ears. It hovers before me, we are the same size. It flings one black arm out and part of the cocoon wall in that direction disintegrates. I need to stop and prevent this.

Through the hole on the cocoon flies a large red bird with a forked tail. In its beak is what seems to be a pencil case. It drops it near me and I catch it. I wake.....
