Blake's "Job Accepting Charity"...
A description of the experience
William Blake – from the Complete Poems
It continues accumulating to eternity, the joys of God advance
For he is righteous, he is not a being of pity and compassion
He cannot feel distress, he feeds on sacrifice and offering
Delighting in cries and tears and clothed in holiness and solitude
-------------------------------------------------
Whilst Virtue is our walking staff
And truth a lantern to our path
We can abide life’s pelting storm
That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm
Blow boisterous Wind, stern Winter frown
Innocence is a Winter’s gown
So clad, we’ll abide life’s pelting storm
That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm

Mock on, mock on Voltaire, Rousseau
Mock on, mock on, ‘tis all in vain
You throw the sand against the wind
And the wind blows it back again
But every sand becomes a gem
Reflected in the beams divine
Blown back they blind the mocking eye
But sand on greater shores will shine
The atoms of Democritus
And Newton’s particles of light
Form sands upon the eternal shore
Where mankind’s thoughts there shine so bright
The source of the experience
