Symbols - What does heaven look like
Soma
According to sources like Wikipedia “Soma (Sanskrit: सोम sóma), or Haoma (Avestan), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *sauma-, was a Vedic ritual drink of importance among the early Indo-Iranians, and the subsequent greater Indian and greater Persian cultures. It is frequently mentioned in the Rigveda, whose Soma Mandala contains 114 hymns, many praising its energizing qualities. In the Avesta, Haoma has the entire Yašt 20 and Yasna 9-11 dedicated to it”.
And indeed, as time went on, it may indeed have also been used to describe various ritual drinks, but its symbolic meaning is the spirit energy flows that result from a kundalini experience.
This is why in both Hindu and Zoroastrian tradition, soma is personified as a divinity consisting of three parts, the three parts being Ida, Pingala and Sushumna.
The stalk is the spine and the ‘grinding of the stones’ is the masturbatory techniques used in the Sex magick, Peaking and Sexual stimulation techniques to provoke such experiences. Stones in this instance being the balls or gonads. Sometimes these stones were known as the jewels, causing some people unaware of the symbolism to become greatly confused as to why one would grind up the stalk of a plant using precious stones.
From these euphemisms we of course get such expressions in English as ‘the crown jewels’ [referring to the testicles and penis] and grinding – making love or having sex.
Most of the techniques used in the Yoga sexual system are shared with Qigong see Testicle stimulation - Wai Dan conversion/Gau Wan Yunn Dong.
