Observations placeholder

I am crawling through a tunnel lined with grey carpet.  I am not alone, there are several other people many of whom I know.  We are having to crawl because the tunnel is very low and not that wide, but despite the fact I normally really hate such enclosed spaces I don't feel that concerned.  It is light, the carpet is quite soft and it is not airless.  There is also a 'light at the end of the tunnel'. 

 We get to the end of the tunnel and turn to the right, but it has been blocked off.  There is the sense that this is the normal route, but it has been recently closed - again with grey carpet which lines floor walls and ceiling.  We look to the left and this has been opened up so we go this path.  It leads into a sort of antechamber of which I have no recollection except that it appears to be above ground not below, I think there was a window overlooking buildings and mountains in the distance.

 An extremely narrow spiral staircase made from plywood ascends upwards.  The staircase is lined with plywood though it is so short that from the bottom you can see the exit and the entrance - again  normally there would have been no way I would have attempted anything as tight fitting and claustrophobic as this but I do, because again it seems only short and the end can be seen.

 I squeeze up the staircase and it really is a squeeze.  It all looks very hastily constructed with bits of girder and metal struts showing.  Everything is wood and metal and all unpainted.

 I come out into a vast almost hanger like building with a roof not dissimilar to a station like St Pancras or alternatively one of those old fashioned markets.  All the ironwork shows and the walls also, although white, also show the struts and supports.  The whole building is open to the roof but it has a form of decoration in it, I can't remember what sort of decoration but the overall impression is one of celebration and decoration.  I seem to remember there are paintings on the walls - large and busy and colourful.

 The exit from the staircase leads into a separate partitioned off area with a few trestle tables and coat stands and other rather messy paraphernalia.  Four of the people I am with sit at one of the tables, but another says 'No no you aren't meant to be here we are all due next door'. 

So all of us troop beyond the partition and it is full of people at trestle tables all celebrating with balloons and streamers and white paper cloths and bottles and I think food.  There are faces I know and faces I don't but the place is heaving

 And then I woke up!

The dream was so lucid and clear that when I woke up I was completely bewildered as to where I was, and where everyone had gone.
