Background
The three headed dog is Cerberos, a guardian, Crowley has him added to this card where other cards do not featire this, but the symbolism is not incorrect, in fact it is rather a nice touch to think both the Fool and the Hermit are supported by a dog.
But I don't know why Crowley made him wear a red cloak. Most other packs apart from Rider Waite [whose sybmolism is spot on here] use blue, which I think is more apt.
Maybe Crowley thought of himself as a hermit at times [as opposed to a magician] and knew he had been through purgatory to provide illumination!!
