Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

If you try to map the cone of the soul against the physical model you get a reversed view, best shown by Robert Fludd’s rather complex diagram.  In some senses it is a almost impossible thing to convey, but Fludd did his best here.

Essentially, the cones meet at their apexes and Fludd clearly believed that the cones met at the Sun – you can see the picture of the Sun in the diagram.  He has also tried to superimpose the reversed cones to show that one is a mirror of the other.

The diagram is clearly symbolic as we have Terra/Earth,  the Water, Air [shown as clouds] then a very visible Fire layer.  Then we start to rise through the planets.

But you can also see that what is in between the cones is a diamond shape, thus cones are interspersed with diamonds.

Oh dear, so complex to expain.
