Introduction and description
Yinqiaosan is a TCM [Traditional Chinese medicine formula] used for influenza, coughs and colds. It generally contains the following dried herbs and flowers [note that being a herbal preparation the formula and quantities may vary]. I have included an observation that shows that there is scientific evidence amassing that some of the ingredients are indeed effective against the flu virus
- Jin Yin Hua (Honeysuckle Flower or Lonicera; Flos Lonicerae Japonicae);
- Lian Qiao (Forsythia Fruit , Fructus Forsythiae Suspensae);
- Jie Geng (Root of the Balloon Flower, Platycodi Radix);
- Niu Bang Zi (Great Burdock Fruit, Fructus Arctii Lappae);
- Bo He (Field Mint, Mentha, Herba Menthae Haplocalycis );
- Dan Dou Chi (Prepared Soybean, Semen Praeparatum Sojae);
- Jing Jie (Schizonepeta Bud or Stem, Herba Seu Flos Schizonepetae Tenuifoliae);
- Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatherum Stem and Leaves, Herba Lophatheri Gracilis);
- Lu Gen (Reed Rhizome, Rhizoma Phragmitis Communis) ;
- Gan Cao (Licorice Root, Radix Glycyrrhizae)
