I also admired a very productive olive grove, and one of figs, with copious crops of every variety. There was a delightful grove of poplars; and a similar one one of sour fruited trees with the Egyptian Carob and the weeping African gum tree, such as was not to be found distilling its ammoniac gum at the oracle of Ammon. These groves were arranged and ordered most cleverly and elegantly, none of them having to strive to see the sky, but each in the best position in accordance with its virtues.
