Ernesto Bozzano - Psychic phenomena at the moment of death [110 cases suggesting survival after death]
Third category Cases in which other people, collectively with the dying person, perceive the same ghost of the deceased.
38-th case. - Here is a case, where it is not precisely a collective vision on the deathbed, but of a perceived appearance related to a person who was to die eighteen months later seeing in turn the same appearance. It is thus a premonitory vision, repeated on the deathbed. I extract the case from the Journal of the S.P.R. (1905, p. 327). Mr. Johsna Hodgson writes:
On the evening of Friday, July 29, 1898, my wife was engaged in housekeeping, and I sat beside her, smoking and reading, until I fell asleep. My sleep lasted until after midnight. When I woke up and looked around, I was immensely surprised to see two human figures in front of me: my wife sitting on the armchair and plunged into a deep sleep and another figure dressed in white and hanging over her. Looking at the face of this last figure, to my astonishment, I recognized the mother of my wife!
As soon as I recognized her, she disappeared, while my wife continued to sleep quietly, unaware of what was happening. I thought it prudent not to inform her, for fear of impressing her; and I abstained from doing this for several months. But I must admit that the vision had left me with the painful impression that it was a prognosis of impending doom.
My wife died on March 18, 1900, eighteen months after her mother had appeared above her during her sleep.
A few days before she died, she said that she saw her mother with her own son (who died seventeen months ago), who were waiting for her and calling her. After these words, she went into unconsciousness and stayed there until her death.
