Patterns of Prophecy – Alan Vaughan

….. it seems to me that an individual is born with a psychic "blueprint" that contains the basic patterns of his future and that is based on patterns from the past- on the building blocks of psychic life- that I term archetypes.

Put another way, a person as a spiritual entity makes his basic choices for the future before he is born. He enters the world with his inner destiny.

This inner destiny or "blueprint" seems to be chosen so as to fit in a complex interlocking weave of a hierarchy of society's "blueprints." An analogy might be seen in experimental drama.

The overall play is written by a single author; the roles are written so as to interact with each other toward a certain dramatic climax. Yet there is a certain amount of freedom for the actors who try out for the roles. They may be able to alter certain scenes or their precise words so as to fit better their own personalities.

The playwright might write them a new scene if he thinks they can perform it to the greater benefit of the drama. Other scenes may be cut or rewritten, depending in part on the actors available.

Theater is often a fluid experiment. Yet the basic structure of the play is fixed. The ending is rarely changed by rewriting, though it does sometimes happen. The characters (the archetypal roles) are basically set. Yet sometimes especially good actors will be able to add to their roles once they have demonstrated their capability.

More often, the actor's brilliance is demonstrated by how well he plays the role, not how he changes it.
