For those who support the theory of thought transmission or cryptesthesia, the depiction of the animal may have been taken from an image of Judge Austin's subconsciousness.

A description of the experience

As quoted in Gabriel Delanne - Materials for use in the study of Reincarnation

The appearance of a dog

The North Somerset Newspaper reports the following story told by Mr. Robert Austin, who affirms its veracity. His father, Judge Austin, who was known as a great dog lover, had a Spaniel who was very devoted to his master; he was his inseparable companion.

Over time, the dog died and a week later, Judge Austin went to a friend's house in Clifton with whom he talked for a few moments in the living room.

When he left, a young Scottish lady, who was at the time in the house, asked who this gentleman was with his dog. The mistress of the house replied that it was Judge Austin, but, she added, he did not have a dog with him. The other replied that there was indeed a dog in the living room and she described exactly what an old Spaniel looked like and even his favorite attitude when he was with his master...

You can think whatever you want about this story, adds Mr. Austin, but it's true.
