The pantomimic dance of Armenian araghil, meaning stork and usually performed by a man, is described as follows:
The dance involved some disguise, the performer, squatting and taking a shepherd's crook, was then covered with a sheepskin coat turned inside out. The dancer put his hand and arm with the staff in one of the sleeves. The end of the staff that jutted out was wrapped in rags so that it looked like a stork's head.
The dancer jumped to the music, swaying the staff. In this way he imitated the gait of a stork and the movements of its head.
