A description of the experience
From Occult Review (July 1932)
[also quoted in Professor Ernest Bozzano Les phénomènes de bilocation Traduit de l’italien par Gabriel Gobron and translated further into English by Serge Patlavskiy]
Mr Sylvan J. Muldoon, the author of the very interesting work: The Projection of the Astral Body, sent to the Occult Review (July 1932) several episodes of bilocation collected by him. In the following case the split person has the vision of his own deceased grandmother. His name was not mentioned, but Mr Muldoon communicated it, as well as the address, to the editor of the magazine.
Mrs V.D.S. from New Jersey (United States) writes:
" While I was ill at the big hospital in Pittsburgh, I underwent a serious operation. For the first time in my life, I had to be given an anaesthetic.
As soon as I began to breathe it in, I experienced a wonderful feeling of well-being and bliss. But, to my great surprise, I found myself in the company of the doctor and the nurse, and, in front of me, I saw my inert and lifeless body lying on the operating table. I noted the bottles and surgical instruments placed next to them, and I even noticed that a nurse had her headdress crooked, which was rather comical.
I was forced to look up and saw my dear grandmother, who had died ten years earlier, coming to me through the ceiling. She approached me and took me by the hand, saying that we had to move quickly, because the time available was very short. We passed through the ceiling together, as easily as we would have passed through a curtain of smoke. We found ourselves outside, in a bright atmosphere where my grandmother drew my attention to a landscape that was familiar to me, showing me where my home was, rising out of beautiful trees. As I was ecstatic about this vision, my grandmother exclaimed, "We don't have time! Now you have to get inside your body!" And before I could even answer, I woke up in my bed and saw a nurse leaning anxiously over me...
This is what I am able to report about my experience of duplication, which was for me a powerful revelation: If what happened to me must be repeated at the time of death, then it is senseless to fear death."
