Type of Spiritual Experience
Background
Superficially this looks like a simple quote, but it is useful to compare this with the depressive phase experienced by manic depressives. At a certain point Madame Guyon 'did the dive' sunk down into her deep subconscious to experience the perceptions and demons stored there. As the approach requires one to lower the vibrational levels, it is indeed distancing you from the levels at which love and the higher spirit are 'stored'.
A description of the experience
Leuba - Psychology of Religious mysticism
Everything seemed to me full of faults; my charities, my alms, my prayers, my penances; one and all they rose against me. Either by you, O my God, or by myself, or by all creatures, I felt myself universally condemned.
