B J Laubscher – Where Mystery dwells
Mrs. AIex. writing from Pretoria in Afrikaans described how deeply attached she was to her mother. This feeling did not make her dependent and she managed her own house and family. But there was a bond between her mother and herself which always gave her such happiness and contentment when they were together and she had often thought that should her mother die she would feel this void very much. She never gave life hereafter any thought.
Then she heard rappings in a corner of her house which could not be explained and thereafter she saw lights which always mysteriously disappeared and for which no one could give a reason.
Then came the news of her mother's sudden heart attack. This affected her in such a manner that before she could undertake the trip to her mother she retched and retched for hours. She arrived at the sickbed to find her mother very exhausted. She opened her eyes and slowly reached out for her daughter's hand and said :
"You must not sorrow over me. There is no need for grief, I am deeply happy inside. Try and listen with me, I am hearing the most beautiful music. It seems to be drawing me, but it is far far away," and then she breathed her last.
