Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

We see the idea of the island cones expressed in a number of maps produced in the middle ages.  At the time, many maps were being produced of the spiritual world, not the physical geographical world.  Here, of course we can run into confusion, because at a certain level – the template level – the spiritual/software map will be equivalent to the physical map.  A person who achieves an out of body experience in the template layer, can travel the world and ‘see’ the mirror equivalent of the spiritual, but the maps often produced were of higher levels and the people at the time had a fascination for the cone.  This map is the Lambeth Palace or Reading world map.  It was produced about 1300 and is now to be found in the Lambeth Palace Library in London [MS 371].
