The sense of hearing discriminates between pleasant proportions i.e. consonant ones and unpleasant and dissonant ones. Let him consider diligently that proportions are entities of reason, perceptible by reason alone, not by sense and that to distinguish the proportions i.e. the form, from the thing proportioned, i.e. from matter, is a function of the Intellect
