Dr Holbrook had been quite ill with acute bronchitis, which occurred every winter and spring for several years. As he was young and newly embarked on a career which was of great interest to him, he was despondent for fear it would ultimately become chronic, and perhaps terminate his life.
In this depressed condition he fell into a light sleep and seemed to see his sister, who had been dead more than twenty years.
She said ‘Do not worry about your health, we have come to cure you; there is much yet for you to do in the world’.
Then she vanished, and his brain seemed to be electrified as if by a shock from a battery, not painful, but delicious. It spread downward over his entire body. He awoke and found himself well, and never again had an attack of the disease
