A description of the experience

From L'Irréparable – Charles Baudelaire

Qu'enflammait l'orchestre sonore,
Une fée allumer dans un ciel infernal
Une miraculeuse aurore;

Terrasser l'énorme Satan;

====================

From the Irreparable  – Charles Baudelaire

I have sometimes seen, at the back of a commonplace theatre
Set on fire by the deep-toned orchestra,
A fairy light up an infernal sky
A miraculous dawn;
I have sometimes seen, at the back of a commonplace theatre

I have sometimes seen, at the back of a commonplace theatre
A being who was only light, gold and gauze,
Strike down huge Satan;
But my heart, which ecstasy never visits,
Is a theatre, where one waits
Always, always in vain, the Being with wings of gauze!
