Transcendental Music
24-th case. - It is from the Light (1821), page 321. Mr. F. H. Rooke De Guildford writes:
A few years ago, my sister and I were the percipients of a paranormal experience that brought us the greatest comforts of our lives.
Our mother was seriously ill with rheumatic fever. The doctor and nurse had expressed the opinion that her suffering should not be prolonged much. One night, around one o'clock, my sister was sitting with sick mother and I was resting in the room upstairs, when her attention was suddenly drawn by majestic musical chords. They seemed played on a celestial instrument; she had never heard such divine melodies.
When she addressed our mother, she asked: "Can you hear this music?"
The answer was: "I can't hear anything."
At that very moment, I was rushing into the room, asking: "Where is this heavenly music coming from?" The chords vibrated so high that they woke me from a deep sleep!
While I was discussing this with my sister, the music gradually faded and went out. I looked at my mother: she was dead! Her spirit had moved away from the body with the last note of transcendental music.
Our father, who was sleeping in the next room, had heard nothing!
