A description of the experience

The Healing Wisdom of Birds – Lesley Morris

Feather fans are often representative of particular deities, and are sometimes made by initiates for use by other initiates in a spiritual tradition. In African culture, feather fans represent the goddesses Oshun and Yemenja.

The peacock feather fan of Oshun, and the duck feather fan of Yemenja are used in order to cleanse in the name of those deities. These goddesses have the ability to remove obstacles through the ceremonial use of the sacred feather fans.
