A month or so before she died, Ivan Martin's wife would often tell him that she had seen her mother, appearing as a young woman, quite clearly at the foot of the bed:
I said, 'Are you, sure you were not dreaming?', to which she replied, 'I know a dream from what I have been seeing.' She seemed very happy and would say little more, although I felt that the experience had a particularly calming effect upon her.
