A description of the experience
Friar Herbert Thurston - The Physical Phenomenon of Mysticism
Blessed Tommaso da Cori, O.S.F., falling into an ecstasy when he was giving Communion in the church at Civitella, rose to the roof so swiftly that the congregation thought he must have broken his head against the rafters, but after a short interval he sank gently back to earth, holding the ciborium safely in one hand and a particle between the thumb and forefinger of the other. He also on one occasion was raised up horizontally from his bed into the air during his last sickness.
