Background
Azrael is the name of the Archangel of Death in some extrabiblical traditions. He is also the angel of death in Islamic folklore. It is an English form of the Arabic name Azra'il (عزرائيل) or Azra'eil (عزرایل), the name traditionally attributed to the angel of death in Islam and some Hebrew lore.
A description of the experience
I am a slave - Rumi
‘Don’t ask me again’
Said the earth to Azrael
‘Don’t ask me to take on your quest
‘I am slave to no one but Him
The one who raised dust from the sea
My ear is deaf to all words but His
He is dearer to me than my own sweet soul
The soul that came out from Him,
I am deaf and dumb and blind to all but Him
For I am as the Spear in His hand
