Premonitions: A leap into the Future – Herbert B Greenhouse
In December, 1969, I received a letter from Lorna Middleton, which said in part:
At 11:45 tonight I felt there may be a tremendous disaster, at first thought it appears to be an oil refinery. The location? Near a harbour. A tremendous fire, sheets of white flame . . .
A month later Miss Middleton sent me a clipping from the London Sun of December 29, 1969:
GIANT OIL PLANT BLAZE
More than 250 firemen raced to a giant oil refinery last night after an explosion turned the plant into an inferno . . . Huge clouds of billowing smoke poured from the fiercely blazing refinery-the second biggest in Europe . . .
The refinery is located at Fawley, near the "harbour" of Southampton, where the Titanic began her ill-fated voyage in 1912. When Miss Middleton first had her premonition, on December 6th, she couldn't pinpoint the location. On December 27th, two days before the fire, the name Southampton came to her.
