Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

I have included a Rumi quote and an unattributed too because they are all complementary to one another.

All three quotes are about the pursuit of the Higher spirit for us

A description of the experience

I am true love that false was never
My sister my soul, I lover her thus
Because we would in no wise discover
I left my kingdom glorious
I purveyed for her a palace precious
She flyeth, I followed, I sought her so
I suffered this pain piteous
Quia amore langueo

Jalala d’Din Rumi

No lover ever seeks union with his beloved
But his beloved is also seeking union with him
But the lover’s love makes the body lean
While the beloved’s love makes her fair and lusty
When in this heart the lightning spark of love arises
Be sure this love is reciprocated in that heart
When the love of God arises in thy heart
Without doubt God also feels love for thee

Mechthild of Magdeburg – Das Fliessende Licht der Gottheit

I chased thee, for in this was my pleasure;
I bound thee, and I rejoice in thy bonds;
I have  wounded thee, that thou may be united to me.
If I gave thee blows, it was that I might be possessed of thee.
