The Bridge over the River
Count of Eulenburg – 1915, July 29th
I am satisfied with all of you now. Your grief tormented me in the beginning for I had made the greatest effort to make myself susceptible to you. It is better now.
How easy dying is! I am not permitted to tell you everything, but it goes very, very well with me; you must think of me as a shape formed of light, who need not endure suffering any longer.
I have brought about my own death because here I have greater works to do. You can form no conceptions of these tasks; you cannot divine even how beautiful, how great, how perfect these are.
Hail him, who may fulfill them!
Your body wants rest. Sleep as much as you can. We come together in sleep and help each other. Soon you will also be aware in the waking state.-This is the very beginning.
If you only knew the beauty I have already experienced here! But I shall show all this to you in time to come.
Inevitable laws are about you, which force you to live your life as you have determined it yourself. Divine powers guide it all, but you are shaping your own destiny.
