Symbols - What does heaven look like

MERCURY

Each Intelligence is ‘conscious’ with the shared functions of communication as well as the functions of the particular system which it controls.  But each Intelligence  - or archetype - is also allocated a set of attributes that might be classified as Personality traits.  These attributes are used to build up the Personality geared to our Destiny.

Personality traits or Attributes are functions just like any other function except that they are unrelated to the operation of physical things.

In the following charts I have listed some of the attributes of the MERCURY Intelligence.  These have been obtained principally from the books by Michel Gauquelin whose scientific study into this area was backed by huge volumes of research comparing actual people with their attributes.  Additional attributes have been obtained from the books by Jeff Mayo plus some other modern authors.

MERCURY is also connected with change and transformation, thus he is associated with both construction and creativity and destruction as the two have to go together – the old has to go for the new to appear.

People are frightened of change, as such MERCURY has a somewhat ambivalent image in myths and legend.  He is portrayed as both a terrifying destructive force, or a powerful creative deity.  Jung spoke of Mercury’s effects in his lecture ‘The spirit of Mercury’ in 1942 during the Second World War when the destruction at the time seemed appalling, but from this destruction arose positive change – one of which was the liberation of women .
