Experiment 10
This last experiment is the one that was made with the lead pipe. This idea and the procedure for carrying it out came from Count Guy du Bourg de Bozas.
He had a length of 3 cm lead pipe made up. He asked one of our friends, M. Stanislas de Jelski, to get a third person, a lady who was leaving Warsaw the same day, to put a letter inside it, to be kept secret from all of us. Then he had the opening soldered and gave it to me.
The first attempt at a test took place on 28th September, in a restaurant, after a heavy meal. This is what M. Ossowiecki said:
"This was written by a lady. It is something about nature, in relation to man and feeling. He is at the center of creation. This was written in very unusual circumstances."
I asked the clairvoyant, "Shall we unseal the pipe?" He replied, "No, wait, I am not satisfied. I should like to have another session."
This second session took place chez Prince Lubomirski, at 6 pm. on 30th September, in the presence of [five other named persons]. With a lot of initial effort but then more readily Ossowiecki said:
"Creation ... the whole creation ... nature." (long silence)
'It's about a powerful man. It's the feeling of the people that he is one of the great men of the century. l can't understand. I see two things: there is something written, written by a woman and there is a drawing. The drawing shows a man who has large moustaches and large eyebrows, but no nose. He is in military uniform. He looks like Pilsudski. The writing is in French. It says: 'This man, he is afraid of nothing, not afraid of anything political or of any ideas ... like a knight.’
Then the lead pipe is cut open, in the presence of the witnesses. I take out the paper and unfold it. It contains a sketch drawing of Marshal Pilsudski, with large moustaches, large eyebrows, no nose drawn, in military uniform.
Under the drawing is written: Le chevalier sans peur et sans reproche
[The perfect gentle knight; literally translated: The knight without fear and without reproach]..
