Daarling, how lovely to see you round here
Have a whisky or gin, have a lovely cold beer
It is ages, just ages since I’ve seen your face
[Or sniffed on your bum, we’ll forget that disgrace]
I’ve come up in the world now my owner’s a Lady
She takes me to Ascot and Chequers and Henley
And lately she’s taken to sprucing me up
With ribbons, nail varnish, shampoo called ‘sweet pup’
Do you like the hat it is trimmed with swans down?
Do you think that the ribbons make me look a clown?
The feathers are agony one constant itch
I just wish, how I wish, that I’d been born a bitch.
