Symbols - What does heaven look like
Dolphin
The dolphin takes on the symbolism of animals.
If a person rides a dolphin or becomes a dolphin, he or she has effectively assumed the role of an animal in order to achieve ‘ecstatic experience’. There is thus a link here with both body image distortion and shape shifting both of which can occur during an out of body experience. In this latter case the dolphin becomes a means of transport.
Added symbolism is provided by the fact the dolphin is extremely intelligent, agile and is both happy in Water and out of Water. Its agility denotes a very able out of body traveller just as much at home in the spirit world as out of it. But the fact it spends its time between Water and Air is also significant spiritually.
Soul Retrieval – Dr Alberto Villoldo
Dolphins appeal to us because they appear to be so playful and free. We feel a sense of connectedness to them, and they in turn seem to greet us from the sea like nature’s ambassadors – intelligent, sleek, acrobatic, swimming alongside our boats and calling to us with squeaks and clicks. The ancient Greeks thought of dolphins as sacred messengers and blessed them as symbols of the sea
The connection with the Boat described by Dr Villoldo, gives them a special role as Spirit helpers to those on spiritual journeys - usual heros on a mission.
In so called 'real life' it is not unknown for gifted children to be able to communicate with dolphins and summon them.
