Experiments in mental suggestion – Professor L L Vasiliev

Mme. De Thy, a University teacher of philosophy, describes the manifestations of astonishing telepathic perceptions by her mentally deficient brother, whose mentality at the age of 47 was that of an 18 months old child. He is not capable of connected speech, and is only able haltingly to pronounce separate words. This, however, did not, according to his sister, prevent him from being a good telepathic percipient.
24 cases are cited in the article referred to in which he pronounced, with extraordinary speed and accuracy and completely without distortion, words and scientific terms completely unknown to him at moments when these words or terms happened to come into the minds of persons present. The author explains the absence of distortion of the telepatheme, so often displayed by other percipients, by the supposition that her brother's barely developed intellect was unable to control and alter the perceptions telepathically received.
The instances given in her article occurred by way of spontaneous telepathy; no experiments in mental suggestion were ever deliberately conducted by anyone with this unfortunate individual.
