The death of Peter Emil Nielsen - The angels are singing! How beautiful it is

Type of Spiritual Experience

A description of the experience

A Casebook of Otherworldly Music – D Scott Rogo

This somewhat more complete account comes to us from Margaret Focht (Horsham, Pennsylvania) and was recently published in Fate Magazine ( October, 1968) :

My mother, Frida Lustrap, has told me many times that when her father, Peter Emil Nielsen, died in the winter of 1914 she and my grandmother Rosmine knew he saw something extraordinary.

Peter Nielsen was fifty-three when he died of stomach cancer. In the terminal stages he was at home in Aarhus, Denmark, and for three months had eaten almost nothing. He was emaciated and too weak to move. No word had he spoken in that time, and even his comprehension seemed to disappear. He was just a shell.

The doctors had said his death was near, so my mother and grandmother took turns keeping constant vigil. For some reason, however, both of them were at his deathbed when the end came.

Suddenly grandfather, who had been barely breathing, sat upright in bed. Before either of the women could rush to ease him back, his eyes opened wide and he exclaimed loudly, and joyfully, "The angels are singing! How beautiful it is."

There was a long pause and then he said, "And I'm coming too!" He looked excited and happy as he spoke.

Then just as suddenly, quite calmly and peacefully, he lay back on the pillow and died.
