......This appears to be not without justification and I could cite my own case in confirmation. After a street accident in which my arm was seriously injured, all sensation whatever left the injured limb, which was confined in a splint, but when this was handled by the doctors at the hospital to which I was taken, every touch was felt acutely by a phantom arm lying apparently under the bed-clothes and grasped by the uninjured one.
