Background

A description of the experience

from The Wings

There is no way into the silver cloud
Save by long battle with the wings that cry -
That wither up and rot, unless the proud
Spirit fight on, until they scorn the sky

For only when the wings beat thinnest air
Can the eye see the pattern of the mind;
Only when stars are burning in the hair,
The heart may ponder and the heart may find

The source of the experience
