The tassel at the top of the cob is extremely useful when made into a herbal tea for sufferers from urinary complaints, especially from cystitis.  The tassels are actually called in popular language ‘cornsilk’.  Cornsilk tea is demulcent and very soothing to sore urinary passages.  It also acts as a diuretic.

One ounce of this herb in 1 pint of boiling water can then be sipped when cool enough, at intervals throughout the day.  Its effect, as long as a good swig or even a mugful is taken initially is surprisingly quick
