Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

The illness causing the possession was typhoid.

There are a number of events described in the book which could be explained a number of ways.  In many cases, the simplest explanation  - though still interesting in itself – is that the possessor could read the perceptions of other people – many other people.  At least 50% of the observations can be accounted for in this way........

A description of the experience

X plus Y equals Z, or the Sleeping Preacher of North Alabama – 1876 G W Mitchell

During the same confinement mentioned in my foregoing statement, in his sleeping state, Mr Sanders gave my husband and me a minute description of my father's homestead, situated near Mount Ulla, in Rowan, and near the line of Iredell County NC.

In speaking of a division that might be made of the tract of land, he described a certain tree as a beginning point, then proceeded to describe the line to be run, giving courses, distances, the manner in which the lines would pass certain places; such as the orchard – the branch – the stock-lot – the barn etc with as much accuracy as any one could have possibly done, had he been on the identical spot of ground.

I lived on the place from my earliest recollection until after I was married.

Mr Sanders, as is well known, was never in North Carolina, and I feel satisfied that he had no means of getting a description of the place
