Metoprolol [succinate and tartrate ]   trade names Lopressor   is a selective B1 receptor blocker.  Also used under the trade name Toprol-xl .    The active substance  - metoprolol  - is employed either as metoprolol succinate or metoprolol tartrate (where 100 mg metoprolol tartrate corresponds to 95 mg metoprolol succinate), respectively.  It is used as prolonged-release or conventional-release formulation
