Background
There is a barrier between the holding area and the Spiritual world at large – the final resting place. It is possible to cross this barrier whilst you are alive, but it is well guarded and you have to have already learnt a good deal about the layout of the spiritual world as well as 'earned your spurs' so to speak.
The dead cross it anyway, irrespective. The most frequent barrier seen is a bridge which can take any number of different forms. Here we see a fence and the difference between a symbolic field and a symbolic meadow!

I died from a cardiac arrest and as I did, I suddenly found myself in a rolling field. It was beautiful and everything was an intense green – a colour unlike anything on earth. There was light – beautiful uplifting light – all around me. I looked ahead of me, across the field, and I saw a fence. I started moving towards the fence and I saw a man on the other side of it, moving towards it as if to meet me. I wanted to reach him, but I felt myself being drawn back, irresistibly. As I did, I saw him too, turn around and go back in the other direction, away from the fence.

I was suspended over a fence … on one side of the fence it was extremely scraggly territory, mesquite brush and generally a junky place you wouldn’t want to be.
On the other side of the fence was the most beautiful pasture scene I guess I have ever seen in my life or even imagined, within the distance some beautiful trees, beautiful grass and horses….
It was a three or four strand barbed wire fence… the fence was a definite dividing line, with the beautiful green grass coming right up to the fence and stopping. The left was the world, - here, - the world. The scraggly dirty place is where I live… the other place is where I am going.
