Ages of Man

The theory of the Ages of Man is supported increasingly in very large part by more and more archeological evidence and the discovery of ancient texts.  Much of the archeological evidence has been suppressed by ‘Scientism’ as it does not support the dogma they wish to promote concerning evolution, however, numerous brave scientific souls have spoken out and written books, to show that over the centuries, researchers have found bones and artefacts proving that ‘humans’ have existed for millions of years.  Those denied access to the scientific journals have instead produced blogs [http://personal.eunet.fi/pp/tilmari/tilmari2.htm].

Michael A Cremo, for example, is a research associate of the Bhaktivedanta Institute specializing in the history and philosophy of science. His persistent investigations during the eight years of writing Forbidden Archeology documented a major scientific cover-up.  Of course he has his critics – but most people who dismiss this book and others like his, do so not because the documentation isn't sound or the conclusion isn't logical. Instead, it's because they don't like the conclusion.

The Theory

The theory is that there have been a number of ‘Ages’ of man unrelated to the ‘species’ promoted by Scientism, which show the true evolutionary path of man.  And the reason Scientism does not like this hypothesis is because it shows that evolution has been spiritual and functional, not physical.  We have not been changing from apes to humans.  We have been changing our minds – not always for the better.

Each Age of Man is headed by a ‘species’ derived from an Ancestor – an archetypical model – and the age is supervised [spiritually] by actual Ancestors.  These Ancestors are also known as the Seers or Witnesses.   The Ages are not marked specifically by physical differences, but by spiritual differences.

The appearance on earth of each archetypical human is a product of the Great Work.  Once the Archetype has been created, it then becomes part of the plan for its implementation.  The duration and lineage of the Archetype then corresponds to the evolution and predominance of a particular ‘Archetype’.  Archetypes are not race dependent – again this classification is based on spiritual evolution.

The catastrophic nature of the change

The idea of a mighty changeover from one Age to the next is partly captured in the Greek myths where each race of gods does battle with the previous race to take over.  The difference is that there are no battles as such in ‘heaven’, it is a planned transition spiritually, that just appears like a battle of almighty proportions on earth, because it is usually accompanied by major geological events.

There have been only a few mass extinction events, however, it is now being recognised that events that have caused partial extinctions have happened on a very frequent basis all over the world. Some examples:

9500 BC

The book When the Earth Nearly Died  by D.S. Allan and J.B. Delair [1995] (reissued as Cataclysm: Compelling Evidence of a Cosmic Catastrophe in 9500 B.C.), brought together a mass of evidence that a catastrophic impact of extrasolar material occurred in 9,500 B.C. They believe that this body was ejected by the Vela supernova. They present a compelling amount of physical and other evidence of multiple impacts, giant tidal surges, massive rearrangements of the surface of the Earth, overnight mountain-building, as well as a polar shift. The truth of this hypothesis has yet to be determined. However, if even a 'moderate' impact event occurred in 9,500 B.C. and destroyed an unknown prehistoric civilization it would explain a great deal--for instance the radical fluctuations in climate and sea-level at that time.

6225–6170 BCE

Doggerland was an area now beneath the southern North Sea that connected Great Britain to continental Europe during and after the last glacial period. Geological surveys have suggested that it stretched from Britain's east coast to the Netherlands and the western coasts of Germany and the peninsula of Jutland. It was probably a rich habitat with human habitation in the Mesolithic period.  A recent hypothesis postulates that much of the remaining coastal land was flooded by a mega-tsunami around 6200 BC, caused by a submarine landslide off the coast of Norway known as the Storegga Slide. The three Storegga Slides are considered to be amongst the largest known landslides. They occurred under water, at the edge of Norway's continental shelf in the Norwegian Sea. The collapse involved an estimated 290 km (180 mi) length of coastal shelf, with a total volume of 3,500 km3 (840 cu mi) of debris, which caused a very large tsunami in the North Atlantic Ocean.   In Scotland, traces of the subsequent tsunami have been recorded, with deposited sediment being discovered in Montrose Basin, the Firth of Forth, up to 80 km (50 mi) inland.

Around 2000 BC

In 2001, scientists found evidence that a ‘devastating’ meteor impact in the Middle East might have triggered the mysterious collapse of civilisations more than 4,000 years ago.

Meteor clue to end of Middle East civilisations - By Robert Matthews, Science Correspondent

Studies of satellite images of southern Iraq have revealed a two-mile-wide circular depression which scientists say bears all the hallmarks of an impact crater. If confirmed, it would point to the Middle East being struck by a meteor with the violence equivalent to hundreds of nuclear bombs.  Today's crater lies on what would have been shallow sea 4,000 years ago, and any impact would have caused devastating fires and flooding.
The catastrophic effect of these could explain the mystery of why so many early cultures went into sudden decline around 2300 BC. They include the demise of the Akkad culture of central Iraq, with its mysterious semi-mythological emperor Sargon; the end of the fifth dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom, following the building of the Great Pyramids and the sudden disappearance of hundreds of early settlements in the Holy Land.

Around 2000 AD

The Holocene extinction is also referred to as the Sixth extinction or Anthropocene extinction, and is the ongoing extinction event of species during the present Holocene epoch, mainly as a result of human activity. The large number of extinctions spans numerous families of plants and animals, including mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and arthropods. The current rate of extinction of species is estimated at 100 to 1,000 times higher than natural background rates.  “Ecologically, this age of humanity has been noted as an unprecedented "global superpredator" that consistently preys on the adults of other apex predators, and has worldwide effects on food webs”. There have been extinctions of species on every land mass and in every ocean.

The Holocene extinction continues into the 21st century, with meat consumption, overfishing, ocean acidification and the decline in amphibian populations being a few broader examples of an almost universal, cosmopolitan decline in biodiversity. Human overpopulation (and continued population growth) along with profligate consumption are considered to be the primary drivers of this rapid decline.

According to the Greek Hesiod who prophesied this era:

“During this age humans live an existence of toil and misery. Children dishonour their parents, brother fights with brother and the social contract between guest and host (xenia) is forgotten. During this age might makes right, and bad men use lies to be thought good. At the height of this age, humans no longer feel shame or indignation at wrongdoing; babies will be born with grey hair and the gods will have almost completely forsaken humanity: there will be no help against evil”

The Shaivite description of the Ages of Man calls each period over which one archetype predominates, a Manvantara.  Taking the present Manvantara – Vaivasvata , we find that it is divided into four Yugas, the last of which is Kali yuga.  Kali yuga is known as  the age of conflict.  The prediction is that it will end with almost total destruction of the present archetype.

The end, absolute end of the Twilight of Kali Yuga is estimated to be …..  2,442AD.  The last traces of this present humankind will have disappeared in 2,442.  So as I write this we have, as a species, about 426 years to go.

A Glimmer of hope - The Seven Daughters of Eve

Professor Bryan Sykes is a leading world authority on DNA and human evolution.  After plotting thousands of DNA sequences from all over the world he found that they had clustered around a handful of distinct groups. In Europe there are only seven.  He describes this in his book The Seven Daughters of Eve.  Apart from the striking coincidence of the number of Manvantaras being the same, it raises the rather interesting question – did small numbers of each age of man survive each catastrophic event to pass the baton on to the next age?  The ark existed.
