Common steps and sub-activities
The name given in yoga is chin lock, but it is more correctly called the throat lock. It works via the nerve that goes from the throat to the central vagus nerve. It may also have a slight effect on the neck – in effect helping with neck press.
It is performed by dropping the head slightly so that the chin is tucked close to the chest. By doing this you put a small amount of pressure on the throat – in effect constrict the throat.
