Listening to white noise

White noise does have a technical definition, but for the purposes of the site, it means listening to a noise of constant frequency such as a humming noise or the sound from air conditioning equipment, the sound of a car engine or plane engines, even an electric fan. As long as it is constant and of the same pitch and frequency.
It is a form of sensory deprivation.
