Background
A description of the experience
The poet’s fantasy
Adapted from Book of Songs by Heinrich Heine
Say you’re not just a vision or fantasy
Speak, for I must know again,
That you’re not just a heavenly daydream
Conjured up in this poor poet’s brain
Oh a mouth of such lovely completeness
Eyes twinkling with bewitching flame
Face rounded out with such sweetness
No, a poet couldn’t such heaven frame
Silly songs, silly words, silly lyrics
Dragons, monsters and similar kind
Serpents and stories and sad songs
Are invented in this poet’s mind
But yourself, so bewitching, so lovely
So gorgeous and striking - it's true
The looks and the voice and the actions, no
No poet could make up dear you
