A description of the experience

The Healing power of Herbal teas – Ceres Esplan

Mate – Ilex paraguayensis – Paraguay tea, Jesuits’ tea, Brazil tea Yerba Mate is a true herbal tea that many people have tried at one time or another.  The dried leaves have to be imported and packets of already prepared tea can be bought in health stores.

Mate must always be freshly made, as if it is allowed to stand it goes black and bitter.  When it is freshly made, it has a delightful smoky flavour.

Mate tea is good for you!  It has several outstanding and helpful virtues, for example, as it is so satisfying, a cupful of Mate can take the place of a fattening snack and so help dieters.

It is also slightly soporific if sipped at bedtime, being soothing to the nerves, but it acts as a tonic too and when taken in the daytime, can help one to think more clearly, good for students doing exams!
