Patterns of Prophecy – Alan Vaughan
How do you tell a precognitive dream from its lesser brethren?
The first step is to ask yourself if it makes sense in terms of past experience. Is it a jumble of past events? Then it's probably an ordinary dream. Or are there some elements that don't make sense, things that have never happened, people you have never met, situations that you have never encountered? These are pointers to precognition, especially if there is an accompanying emotion that seems to be greater than the dream scene implies. If you attempt to analyze all your dreams, then you should quickly develop an ability to place them in time and to pinpoint their relevance to your present situation.
It is written in the Talmud that not analyzing a dream is like throwing away a letter unopened. (Of course dreams, like the mail, contain a lot of junk, too.)
