Isabella Tree – Sliced Iguana
According to the ancient religion of the Purepecha, the universe was divided into three great cardinal regions. There was no hell in the Christian sense. There was
- Avandaro where the gods and their messengers lived.
- Echerendo which was the mortal dimension here on earth and
- Cumiechucuaro, inhabited by the dead.
Each had a physical entrance and all three regions were connected to each other. At the entrance to Cumiechucuaro there were said to be five black idols.
