Ṭa'ame ha-Miẓwot - Menahem ben Benjamin Recanati [translated by Gershom Scholem]
On the basis of the lower world we understand the secret of the law according to which the upper world is governed as well as the things that have been called the ten sefiroth, whose ’end is in their beginning just as the flame is attached to the coal' . . . and when these ten sefiroth were made manifest, something corresponding to that supreme form became visible in every other creature, as it is written: [Job 8 : 9]: 'Our days upon earth are a shadow'- ….., earthly man and all other creatures in this world, exist according to the archetype of the ten sefiroth.
