A description of the experience
Quetiapine – Quetiapine Fumarate Quetiapine is marketed as Seroquel , Seroquel Xr and Ketipinor. Quetiapine is primarily used to treat schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. It is is an atypical antipsychotic.
Annual sales are approximately $4.7 billion worldwide, and $2.9 billion in the U.S. There are now several generic versions of quetiapine, such as Quepin . As can be seen from the number of involuntary hallucinations, it is a very strong drug. It is a dopamine, serotonin and adrenergic antagonist and a potent antihistamine with clinically negligible anticholinergic properties. It is also a potent norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and muscarinic antagonist.
Unbelievably it is an ‘abused’ drug!. According to the medical literature there are examples of its use “ through the crushing and snorting of tablets” and “ intravenous abuse and intravenous co-administration with cocaine” [commonly referred to as a "Q-Ball" . In so called ‘recreational use it is known as "quell", "Snoozeberries", or "Susie-Q". The drug is also used ‘recreationally’ in prisons due to its capacity to be regularly prescribed as a sedative and the unavailability in prison of more commonly abused substances.
