The Healing power of Herbal teas – Ceres Esplan
Meadowsweet – Filipendula ulmaria – Queen of the meadows, Bridgewort, Dollof, Lacemakers herb, grows wild in Britain, Europe and the USA and Canada in marshy meadows, along dikes and sometimes railway banks.
It is beautiful in the summer, with its clusters of creamy flowers, red stems and darkish green compound leaves.
A tisane made from the flowering heads, the young leaves and branch tips of the plant before the flower buds have opened is pleasant and extremely beneficial to those who suffer from acidity.
It is said to make the heart ‘gladde and merrie’.
People who consume it frequently tell me that a small spoonful of honey makes it even pleasanter to drink, but I know others who prefer its herby flavour plain.
Bees love the flowers and as they smell so sweet, they are probably rich in nectar.
