Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

At the beginning of his literary career, before he joined the Naqshbandis, Jami
was not interested in being identified with the court. In his first diwan, Fatihat al-Shabab,
there are poems that express his ideology in this regard. He writes:

A description of the experience

Fatihat al-Shabab
People of dignity do not stain their lips eating from the spread of wicked people,
Whoever is content with plain bread and water, is the king of land and sea,
Greedy ones for a crump of bread bend their head for the misers,
The contented ones laugh at kings and viziers.

The source of the experience

Jami.
